September 11 - complete trivia and start lecture on the history of sports and entertainment marketing
September 12 - continue lecture on history of sports and entertainment marketing
September 13 - continue lecture on history of sports and entertainment marketing
September 14 - complete lecture on history of sports and entertainment marketing - work on your demographics submission
September 17 - Read and make notes on "The New Economics of the NHL" 005 Reading 01
September 18 - Read 007 Sports Brief 01 "The Pro Sports Market in Canada" and 008 Sports Brief 02 "Defining the Market Conditions for Success" and make notes as they would apply to demographic, geographic, and psychographic analysis.
September 19 - Read 016 Sports Brief 10 "Why are Toronto teams Financial Successes, but Competitive Flops?" and 018 Sports Brief 12 "How Many NHL Franchises Could Canada Sustain?" and make notes as they pertain to submission #1
September 20 - Read 020 Sports Brief 014 "What Will the Canadian Sports Scene Look Like in 2035?" and make notes as it pertains to submission # 1.
September 21 - Continue with your analysis of the Sports Briefs
September 24 - Submission # 1 Due - Market Segmentation: Demographic, Geographic, Psychographic Analysis - Lecture on sports logos and names.
September 25 - Read " 021 Sports Logo Design" articles on side menu - provide key elements of logo design
September 26 - Read "022 Marketing Sports Teams" articles on the side menu - make notes to supplement notes on logo design elements and make notes and comment on the differences of sports marketing versus marketing any other product or service.
September 27 - Read "023 Branding Toronto Maple Leafs" make notes and comment on the two articles

September 28 - Work on Submission # 2 - Due Friday, October 5th
October 1 - discuss "Branding Toronto Maple Leafs" article
October 2 - work on Submission # 2
October 3 - Mr. T's class - access 024 Toronto Titans Submission 2 and provide a critique on it. Comment on all aspects including team name and colours and justification, jersey design and business card layout. Submit your critique by the end of the period, include the key elements of logo design, colour aspects, business card information and creative aspects. Once you hand it in continue to work on your submission 2 which is due Friday.
October 4 - work on Submission # 2, remember to adhere to the key principles of logo design and provide justifications/explanations for your choices. Submission # 2 due tomorrow. Please submit them as pdfs so we can view them and evaluate them tomorrow.
October 5 - Submission # 2 Due - Branding - In-class evaluation. No work this weekend.
October 9 - Class lecture on Industrial Location Analysis and Arena Location. Factors that must be considered.

Potential Questions - just something to think about
1. List 3 reasons why the NHL should abandon the southern strategy and focus more on a northern one and explain each, giving examples where possible.

October 11 - TEST # 1

October 12 - review the reports written on stadium/arena location. They are under articles 070, 071, 072, 080, 081, 082, 083 and 084. Concentrate on 080, 083 and 084 as they relate to the Edmonton Oilers proposed new facility, the ACC, and the new Markham proposed arena. Scan the reports and look for the general themes your task involves.
October 15 - Submission 3 presentations

October 17 - work on collecting data for internal design, seating charts, luxury boxes, club seats, concessions, merchandise retailers
